An American Horned Frog in Siberia

One woman's adventures in traveling to a place she's never been, to stay with people she's never met, who speak a language she doesn't know. Adventure is right!

PYERvy

It's been recommended to me to keep a blog during my upcoming journey to Irkutsk, Ulan-Ude and Chita. I'm going to Russia on a Rotary Group Study Exchange, an amazing opportunity that I feel truly blessed to have been chosen for. I leave at the end of May and thought it might be wise to make sure I had a blog set up and ready to go b/f I got to the other side of the world. I'm very excited, have a lot of anticipation, and am also a little nervous. I'm not quite as far along in my Russian language skills as I would like to be, but kharaSHO. I'm doing the best I can and know one way or the other, we'll communicate somehow!

This is me all dolled up in my Rotary gear:

Hopefully this blog will get better once I have more interesting things to share!

Oh, and probably everyone who's reading this already knows me and gets the Horned Frog reference, but just in case:

Rah, rah, TCU!

Hey--Love your Blog start. Will you be able to keep it going while on the trip so those of us "back at the ranch" will know what is happening? The Horned Frog is a good idea. Maybe you could also add a Pistol Pete with it for more class. Go Pokes. The trip sounds realy interesting. Look forward to hear how things are progressing toward it.

You know, I don't know if there an any horned frogs in Siberia, but I'd be really surprised given the climate.

I should be able to update pretty regularly while over there; apparently internet cafes are available, and my Russian hosts might have internet in their homes.

Go Pokes Go! :)

Hi, Margaret!

Your setting up a blog is a great idea (especially for a horned frog who may live in a bog). Dad and I are waiting to hear from you on a regular basis. In fact your brothers, sisters-in-law, nephew and niece are all looking over your shoulder.

Love U,
XXX000
