An American Horned Frog in Siberia

One woman's adventures in traveling to a place she's never been, to stay with people she's never met, who speak a language she doesn't know. Adventure is right!

DC Pics

Here's a link to the pictures we took with my camera in DC. Garett took a lot more and I'll link to them, too, once I know where they are. G's a much better picture taker, so he gets credit for all the night ones. Too bad we didn't have his camera with us at night - I'm sure he could have taken some even better pics!

khriSTOS vaSKRYEs'ye

In Russian, Happy Easter is literally Christ is risen, which I think is just wonderful! Since this was my last free weekend between now and when I leave for Siberia, Garett and I decided to take a weekend get-away to Washington, DC. It was just lovely, but I am very sad that I missed all the festivities at home. It looks like the kids (and I'm sure the parents and grandparents as well) had a great time. I'm glad I'll get to go home the weekend before I leave for Jeremy's wedding. And, mom and dad are coming down to visit next month, so that will be good to. I'll get up more pics from DC as soon as they're loaded online!

PYERvy

It's been recommended to me to keep a blog during my upcoming journey to Irkutsk, Ulan-Ude and Chita. I'm going to Russia on a Rotary Group Study Exchange, an amazing opportunity that I feel truly blessed to have been chosen for. I leave at the end of May and thought it might be wise to make sure I had a blog set up and ready to go b/f I got to the other side of the world. I'm very excited, have a lot of anticipation, and am also a little nervous. I'm not quite as far along in my Russian language skills as I would like to be, but kharaSHO. I'm doing the best I can and know one way or the other, we'll communicate somehow!

This is me all dolled up in my Rotary gear:

Hopefully this blog will get better once I have more interesting things to share!

Oh, and probably everyone who's reading this already knows me and gets the Horned Frog reference, but just in case:

Rah, rah, TCU!
